Pennsylvania Chippendale Walnut Blanket Chest
A Pennsylvania Chippendale Walnut Blanket Chest, Late 18th / Early 19th Century. The hinged rectangular top with breadboard ends enclosing a dovetail-constructed box having a right covered till, over two drawers, raised on dovetailed bracket feet. Pine and tulip poplar secondary woods.
Dimensions: Height 27 1/2in; width 49 1/2in; depth 22 3/4in.
Provenance: Property from a Bucks County, Pennsylvania Collection.
Condition:
Structurally sound. General marks wear, nicks, abrasions, surface scratches and small losses. The iron strap hinges have been later replaced with smaller hinges. There is a spliced triangular repair to the back board. The till cover is later replaced. Age cracks and shrinkage to the top. Small spliced repair to the right breadboard end. No key.
