An Assembled Group of English and Continental Table Boxes, 19th Century. Comprising an English Tunbridgeware Specimen Wood Inlaid Mahogany Tea Caddy; a Victorian Shell Inlaid Black Lacquered Box; Napoleon III Cut Brass Inlaid Rosewood Lap Desk, Provenance: With L. Robert Kling, Carversville, Pennsylvania. (accompanied by original receipt); and a mahogany sewing box with pin cushion and spool holders. (4)
Dimensions: Height of lap desk 3 3/4in; width 13in; depth 10in; Height of sewing box 8in; width 4 1/4in; depth 4 3/4in.
Provenance: Property from a Bucks County, Pennsylvania Collection.
Condition:
The lap desk with minor lifting and bending to brass mounts. Heavy wear and loss to the green velvet writing panel. With wear to the hinged lid. The Tunbridgeware tea caddy with heavy surface scratches and wear. The lacquered box with scattered small losses, craquelure and one loss hinge. The small sewing box with wear to the pin cushion fabric.
