An English Carved Walnut and Needlepoint Fire Screen, Third Quarter 19th Century
The arched screen with pierced crest, depicting a recumbent Cavalier King Charles Spaniel dog worked in needlepoint beneath glass, the turned columnar supports ending in scroll feet with brass casters.
Dimensions: Height 45 1/2in; width 29in; depth 17 1/2in.
Provenance: From a Philadelphia Estate.
Condition:
Structurally sound. In overall good condition. Retaining an older surface. Dust accumulation to fret carved crevices. Veneer with minor lifting, shrinkage and repairs.
