In this letter, written in a fine script and dated 1963, Rabbi Aryeh Levin writes that he received Rabbi Yaakov Ferber’s letter informing him of his father’s health condition, and asks him to write updating him on his father’s health and the improvement in his condition. He also enquires after the health of his [Rabbi Yaakov’s?] father-in-law, Rabbi David son of R. Sender.
Rabbi Aryeh Levin (1885-1969), born near Bialystok and studied at the Volozhin Yeshiva before settling in Eretz Yisrael in 1905. Son-in-law of Rabbi David Shapira of Kovno, Mashgiach at Etz Chayim in Yerushalayim, renowned and respected for his outstanding kindness and saintly generosity to people in need and known as ‘the Rabbi of the Prisoners’ due to his exceptional efforts to help Jewish prisoners.
