SEGULA! MANUSCRIPT TORAH WRITINGS OF RABBI MOSHE SOFER - THE CHASSAM SOFER. A CHIDDUSH ON A PASSAGE IN MASSECHTA KESUBOS.

Two sides containing Torah novellae of Rabbi Moshe Sofer – the Chassam Sofer, on a passage in Massechta Kesubos, all in the author’s own handwriting.

The writings of the Chassam Sofer are known to have special powers of protection, healing and other benefits. This manuscript, which is unusual in being a complete sugya (i.e. the author’s comments on a complete Talmud passage), has been passed down in the Chasam Sofer’s family, and is being sold by a descendant.

Rabbi Mordechai Banet, the famous Rabbi of Nikolsburg, gazed for a long time at the handwritten letter he received from the Chassam Sofer, and said that just looking at his handwriting is a segula to acquire Yiras Shamayim. Many stories are told of the power of the Chasam Sofer’s manuscripts and it is said that his son Rabbi Shimon Sofer of Krakow would look at his father’s manuscripts when having to make difficult decisions, as a member of the Austrian parliament.

Rabbi Moshe Sofer (1763-1840), born in Frankfurt, where he studied Torah under its great rabbis, becoming a favoured and outstanding disciple of Rabbi Meshulam Zalman Chasid, Rabbi Nassan Adler, Rabbi Pinchas Horowitz and others. Son-in-law of I. Rabbi Moshe Yerwitz of Prosnitz and II. Rabbi Akiva Eger of Posen. Rosh Yeshiva in Prosnitz, and Rabbi of Dreznitz (1794), Mattersdorf (1799) and Pressburg (1807), heading a large Yeshiva and gradually becoming accepted and revered as the greatest European rabbinic leader of his time, whose teachings have been preserved by his family and his numerous disciples and their descendants. His Torah rulings and teachings continue to guide orthodox Jewish life and his spirit lives on to the present day. Author of voluminous writings in all sectors of Torah, including Tshuvos Chassam Sofer, Chassam Sofer on Shas and Torah, amongst other works.
