PANIM ME’IROS, WITH A MANUSCRIPT NOTE BY THE AUTHOR, RABBI MEIR EISENSTADT, AND A SIGNATURE OF RABBI MORDECHAI GINZ MARGALIOS YAFFE. Panim Me’iros, Part II. Sulzbach 1733. First Edition. On the margin of chapter 37 of this copy, the author corrected a printing error that affects the meaning of his responsum. A second note on that page, in another hand, states: ‘See Horeh Gever, who wirtes in the name of the author of Or Chadash, that the author of Panim Me’iros retracted from what he wrote in this responsum’. The authenticity of this identification has been confirmed by Rabbi Shmerel Tzitronenbaum of Brooklyn. Signature on page 40 of Rabbi Mordechai Ginz Margalios Yaffe, apparently a relative of Rabbi Akiva Eger and the rabbinical Schlesinger family. Elchanan Yaffe of N’S’ signed on final leaf. Rabbi Meir Eisenstadt (1670-1744), Disciple of Rabbi Abele Gumbiner – Magen Avraham and of Rabbi David Oppenheimer of Prague. Rabbi of Szydlowiec, Rosh Yeshiva of Worms (1700), Rabbi of Prossnitz and Eisenstadt (from 1717). Leading rabbinical authority and author of classic halachic works Panim Me’iros and Kasnos Or. [1], 113 pp. 19.5 x 31 cm. Good condition. Title page repaired with slight loss. Original binding, detached.
