A South American White Metal Mate Cup and Bombilla Straw - A two piece set for the traditional consumption of yerba mate, originating from South America. The set comprises a cup and a coordinating drinking straw known as a bombilla, both fashioned from white metal which may be solid silver or, more likely given the interior oxidation, silver plate or alpaca silver. The cup is of a rounded barrel form, featuring two raised horizontal bands around the middle section for decoration and grip. The bombilla straw is detailed with a decorative knop on the stem and terminates in a bulbous filter which is currently placed within the vessel. No maker's marks, hallmarks, or labels are visible on the displayed surfaces.
