A Japanese porcelain square-section baluster vase with bird and floral decoration. No reserve. - A porcelain vase of rectangular baluster form, featuring a square-section body with rounded shoulders and a tall, circular-section neck ending in a flared rim. The exterior is decorated with four vertical panels, each depicting a bird perched on a flowering branch, possibly a peony, rendered in polychrome enamels against a white ground. These panels are framed by a deep cobalt blue border embellished with gilded foliate scrollwork and floral motifs. The shoulders and neck are further decorated with scattered pink floral sprays, accented by cobalt blue and gilded bands at the rim and the junction of the neck and body. No marks, stamps, or labels are visible on the exterior of the vase.
