A LARGE CHINESE LUOHAN DAY BED CARVED IN THE MING STYLE WITH RATTAN BASE, QING DYNASTY. The removable gallery well-carved with panels of dense scrolling dragons and waves, with similar dragon and scroll circular roundels, with woven rattan base and similarly carved scroll apron, on scroll fish tail and ball supports and pad feet, H90cm x W228cm D134xm
Provenance
Acquired from C.L. Ma Furniture, Hong Kong, 1997 for $12,000. Overall in good decorative order and is sturdy. With original bowed supports to the underside, the rear apron (not carved) with some later replacement sections, with some old repairs to legs, joints at legs and some old in-filling to legs and feet where old repairs have taken place. Some typical wear and scuffing to extremities. The rattan base is in good overall condition.
