A CHINESE STONE AND SILVER WIRE INLAID HARDWOOD RUYI SCEPTRE, QING DYNASTY OR REPUBLIC PERIOD. Inlaid with three jade plaques decorated with soapstone and mother of pearl depicting female figure being attended to in a garden scene under moonlight and treasured items in the smaller plaque. To the handle are silver wire inlaid Chinese script. 56cm length. Largest plaque 16cm wide. Provenance: Property of Terence E B Harnden who served as Senior Naval Stores Officer in Hong Kong between 1937 - 1940. Acquired in Hong Kong before returning to England, thence by descent.
Losses to the fence in the largest plaque. No other signs of loss of damage. No signs of repair.
