Avraham Broides was born in Vilnius (Vilna) on May 19, 1907. His father, Yitzhak Broides (1879-1946), who was a prominent type of a learned and educated Jew, planted in his son Avraham's heart the love of Hebrew and Eretz- Israel Avraham Broides studied at the "Heder Matokan" and at the Hebrew Gymnasium in Vilna, immigrated to Israel in 1923 and worked in a building, tile industry and matchmaking factory in the years 1924 to 1928. He was one of the founders of Hanoar Haoved (1924) . His poems were published in the newspaper Bamaleh, and during the 1929 riots he coined the slogan "We, for Labor for Protection and Peace!", Which was the slogan of Hanoar Haoved (later Hanoar Haoved Vehalomed) to this day. He was active in the Hebrew Writers Association in Israel and served as secretary of the Association for many years (1928-1964). Avraham Broides was crowned with a long series of awards for his poems, many of which were composed. In 1978, he received the title of "darling of Tel Aviv". Broides died in Tel Aviv on May 2, 1979 and was buried in the old cemetery of Tel Aviv on Trumpeldor Street.
