"I have no other hour in the week" - Letter from the righteous Gaon, the Mashgiach Rabbi Eliyahu Dessler - Precision of Time!

A letter from the Tzadik &Gaon Rabbi Eliyahu Eliezer Dessler, author of 'Michtav Me'Eliyahu', to his student and relative:

"..My dear beloved relative, I haven't seen you in a while. Please write to me if I can find you at home on Thursday, God willing, at 11 in the morning. I have no other hour this week, and I wish to speak with you if thetime doesn't disturb you. I have returned to my old apartment as noted above, so please write to me at this address. Without further ado, I am your relative **who esteems you, Eli' Eliezer."

As a faithful student of the 'Kelm' method, Rabbi Dessler was accustomed to an exceptionally precise and pre-arranged time management, befitting the Kelm approach. This letter was written during his time in London, where he devoted his soul, all his strength and time to his many students with superhuman effort.]

"... When he left London and its surroundings to establish the Kollel in Gateshead, he did not neglect his students in London whom he had nurtured from a young age. He set for himself an almost superhuman schedule just so he could maintain spiritual contact with them.." (Educator for Generations, Vol. 2, p. 369).

This letter is from this period when he worked to strengthen his students, while strictly maintaining the precise time management practiced in Kelm!

The Tzadik & Gaon Rabbi Eliyahu Eliezer Dessler (1892 - 1953), author of 'Michtav Me'Eliyahu', was known for his genius in deep analysis, straightness of thought and ethics. He was one of the great Mussar leaders and a continuer of the 'Kelm' method, and great-grandson of Rabbi Israel Salanter. He was the founder of the Gateshead Yeshiva, and later the famous 'Mashgiach' of the Ponevezh Yeshiva in Bnei Brak. Among his students were great leaders of the last generation, Rabbi Gershon Edelstein, Rosh Yeshiva of Ponevezh, and the Gaon Rabbi Yitzchak Tuvia Weiss, Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem.
