Rabbi Yaakov Yisrael Kanievsky (1899 - 1985), known as the Steipler, was a leading Torah figure of the pastgeneration. Writing his novellae was a holy task which the Steipler held in great importance. Before writing his novellae, he would immerse in the mikvah, and used a special pen to write these Torah thoughts. He invested tremendous efforts in explaining with precise wording toensure clarity. In these writings as well, it is evident that he exuded much effort into editing his work.
