Rare Chinese Embroidered Silk Robe End
Rare Chinese embroidered silk robe end depicting curved stripes ending in rolling waves, ca. 1830. Possibly Jiaqing due to the color variations and intricacy. The use of imperial yellow throughout the work indicates a high rank for the individual to whom this robe belonged.

Literature: Published in Paul Haig, "Threads of Gold: Chinese Textiles: Ming to Ching, " Schiffer Publishing, Ltd (Pennsylvania: 2006), pages 28-29.

Height: 22 in x width: 51 1/2 in.
Condition: The fragment is in generally good condition. The colors are bold and bright. There is a crease running along the lower edge of the work. There are a few other creases from being stored throughout the piece, visible in the lot listing. There are loose threads throughout all the edges, possibly from when the fragment was removed from the robe it was attached to.
