Shepard Hardware Co. Trick Pony Mechanical Bank
Shepard Hardware Company, United States. Cast iron and pigment "Trick Pony" mechanical coin bank, late 19th century. A coin can be placed in the horse's mouth, which is slightly ajar. Then, a lever at the base of the bank can be triggered to lower the horse's head and deposit the coin into the trap. "Pat. June 2 and July 7th 1885" etched along the underside.
Height: 8 in x width: 8 in x depth: 2 in.
Condition: Losses to the paint and heavy tarnishing throughout. Oxidization throughout. The pony's head and the coin drop work well. No key is included with the bank.
