The Swiss franc is the legal gear of Switzerland and Liechtenstein. The coin was first issued after the unification of the cantons of Switzerland, during the 19th century. One franc equals 100 cents. The cents coins do not indicate the literal name of the coin, but only its value, in contrast to banknotes, which bear the literal name of the banknote in the four languages. The Swiss franc is also used as an official currency in the Principality of Liechtenstein.
