Fine Qajar Brass Kashkul ( Beggar's Bowl) with Extensive Islamic Calligraphy & Gilt Inlay, Persian - This impressive Qajar-period brass kashkul (beggar's bowl) is of traditional boat-shaped form, meticulously engraved over its entire surface with dense scrolling arabesques, floral motifs, and extensive Islamic calligraphic inscriptions executed in elegant cartouches and broad bands. The body is further enriched by a prominent gilt-inlaid calligraphic medallion, creating a striking contrast against the dark patinated brass. Cast zoomorphic loop handles at either end enhance both its functionality and artistic appeal. Kashkuls such as this were carried by wandering Sufi dervishes to receive alms, while also serving as symbols of spiritual humility and devotion. The exceptional quality of the engraving, combined with its harmonious blend of calligraphy, floral ornamentation, and refined metalwork, makes this a superb example of 19th-century Persian Qajar craftsmanship. 9.5 in L x 4 in H
