A Pair of Wicker and Rattan Peacock Armchairs - This lot comprises a graduated pair of vintage wicker and rattan armchairs, commonly referred to as peacock or Emmanuelle chairs. The pair consists of one adult-sized chair and one smaller child-sized chair. Both are constructed from woven rattan and wicker in a natural honey-coloured tone, accented with contrasting dark-stained weaving along the frames and decorative edges. The design features a characteristically high, flared, fan-shaped backrest with an intricate openwork diamond lattice pattern. Each chair has a circular seat with a radiating sunburst weave, supported by a flared, conical pedestal base that mirrors the patterns of the backrest. The curved armrests transition into the large back structures. There are no maker's marks, labels, or stamps visible on either item.
