Bidspirit auction | A Persian Isfahan Hand Knotted

A Persian Isfahan Hand Knotted Silk Carpet - A Persian Isfahan carpet featuring a central multi-lobed floral medallion in shades of rose, light blue, and sage green set upon an ivory field. The field is densely decorated with a Shah Abbasi pattern consisting of scrolling vines, palmettes, and perching birds. Deep blue spandrels frame the central field, surrounded by a wide rose-coloured main border with repeating floral sprays, enclosed by multiple guard borders. The carpet is constructed with a fine pile containing silk on a silk foundation, finished with a knotted silk fringe. A woven inscription cartouche is located within the lower fringe guard; it contains several vertical and curved characters in Persian script that are not legible as a specific name. The reverse of the carpet shows a high weave density of approximately 10 to 11 knots per linear centimetre. 200 x 124cm.
