Bidspirit auction | A Decorative Thematic Chess Set

A Decorative Thematic Chess Set with Alabaster and Onyx Board - A decorative thematic chess set comprising thirty-two cast metal figures and a polished stone board. The pieces are designed with ancient Greek and Roman motifs, featuring two contrasting finishes: one side in a verdigris and turquoise patina and the opposing side in a dark green and black patina. Both sides are finished with polished gold-toned highlights and circular bases. The figural representations include kings and queens as robed dignitaries, bishops as armed warriors, knights as soldiers on horseback, and pawns as infantrymen with shields. The rooks are fashioned as Corinthian-style architectural columns. The square board is constructed from polished stone tiles, alternating between translucent cream and blue-veined squares, surrounded by a wide white stone border and supported by small feet. No maker's marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the pieces or the board.
