A complete copy of Sefer Ma’aseh Rav, the very first printed book containing the laws and customs of the Vilna Gaon. First edition. This important work was compiled by R. Yissachar Ber of Vilna, a close confidant of the Gaon who observed his customs and various practices for many years. Printed with the approbation of Lithuania's pre-eminent Torah leaders - R. Chaim of Volozhin, R. Avraham Danzig - author of Chayei Adam, and R. Avraham Abele of Vilna, the foremost Posek throughout Lithuania and Russia. Virtually all customs of the Vilna Gaon known and practiced today originate from this very work.

This first edition was published anonymously, although R. Yissachar Ber’s name did appear in subsequent later editions. 

In very good-excellent condition; generous margins. Lacking the first (Russian) title page found in some copies. Bound in a new splendid leather binding. Rare.
