A Chinese Export Famille Rose Medallion Cylindrical Porcelain Vase, Late 19th Century - A Chinese cylindrical porcelain sleeve vase decorated in the Famille Rose palette, dating to the late 19th century. The body is hand-painted in polychrome enamels in the Rose Medallion style, featuring four vertical panels. Two cartouches depict domestic courtyard scenes with figures, while the alternating two show birds perched amongst flowering peony and peach branches. These panels are set against a ground of green and pink foliate scrolls and butterflies. The slightly flared rim is finished with an iron-red enamel band. The base bears a four-character mark in underglaze blue, 康熙年製 (Kangxi Nian Zhi), which translates to Made during the Kangxi reign. This is an apocryphal mark, characteristic of late 19th-century export porcelain. Height: 29 cm.
