Large Contemporary Ghanaian Style Hand-Carved Wood and Metal Repousse Wall Mask - A large contemporary decorative wall mask crafted in a West African style, likely originating from Ghana. The piece is hand-carved from a dark-stained hardwood and features an elongated, slender oval form. The central portion of the face is clad in applied white metal sheeting, likely aluminium, decorated with intricate repousse geometric and curvilinear patterns. This metal cladding is secured to the wooden substrate with small pins. The facial features are highly stylised, with narrow slit eyes, a long straight nose, and a small protruding mouth, terminating in a pointed chin. The upper domed section of the mask features vertical incised grooves. The reverse of the mask shows clear hand-chisel marks from the carving process and has a uniform dark finish. A metal wire hanging hook is attached to the top. Length: 54 cm (21.5 inches).
