Basil Matthews Bronze Figurine of a Fox and Cubs, Dated 1980 - A Bronze sculpture of a fox family, designed by the British artist Basil Matthews (1913-1985). The naturalistic scene depicts a central adult fox in an upright, alert posture, positioned alongside two young cubs emerging from a burrow within the textured base. The piece is cast with intricate detail, particularly in the fur of the animals and the surrounding foliage, which includes modelled leaves and small flowers. The figurine features a dark brown and golden-bronze patinated finish. On the rear of the base, the sculpture bears the incised marks: © 1980 / BASIL / MATTHEWS / ENGLAND.
