A Pair of Mid-20th Century Studio Enamel on Copper Bowls - A pair of mid-20th century studio art enamel bowls on copper bases, featuring complex, multi-layered glazes with abstract designs. The technique involves layering various coloured enamels to create painterly effects. The larger bowl exhibits a deep, flared form, with an interior decorated in dendritic patterns of forest green, deep plum purple, and iridescent white glazes, while the exterior has dark, mottled tones. The smaller bowl has a shallower, rounded profile with an interior central well of pinkish-tan surrounded by swirling violet, cobalt blue, and white glazes with dark calligraphic accents. The exterior of the smaller bowl is finished in a vibrant cobalt blue with abstract bronze and gold toned motifs. Both pieces display the characteristic reddish-brown tone of exposed copper on the rims and un-enameled base rings. Illegible paper labels are present on the undersides of both bowls. Diameter of larger bowl: 20 cm Diameter of smaller bowl: 15 cm.
