Antique Oak and Stained Hardwood Miniature Fitted Chest with Three Interior Trays - An antique wooden storage chest, likely a miniature tool chest or apprentice piece, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century. The main body is constructed of oak, featuring hand-cut dovetail joints at the corners that have been treated to contrast with the wood grain. The lid and base moulding are made from a finer-grained hardwood, possibly mahogany, finished with a dark stain. The interior contains three removable rectangular wooden trays with butt-joint construction, resting on a single tier. The chest is fitted with two brass butt hinges and an inset brass lock with a circular brass escutcheon to the front. The interior and trays are made from a lighter secondary wood, likely pine.
