Achille-Constant-Théodore-Émile Prisse d'Avennes, A Trio of Chromolithographs - A trio of large-format chromolithographs after the French archaeologist and artist Achille-Constant-Théodore-Émile Prisse d'Avennes (1807–1879). These plates are taken from the seminal publication L'Art arabe d'après les monuments du Kaire, published in Paris circa 1877. The collection includes three distinct subjects: Pavement de Mosaïque, illustrating geometric mosaic fragments from the 16th to 18th centuries; Khosné Ahmed El Bordeyny, showing a 17th-century interior scene with figures and a hookah; and Pages Jumelles d'un Qorân Mauresque, depicting illuminated twin pages from a Moorish Quran. Each print features the printed attribution Prisse d'Avennes in the lower margin along with descriptive titles and captions in French and Arabic. The works demonstrate the intricate detail and rich colour palette characteristic of late 19th-century chromolithography. No hand-signed signatures or edition numbers are present. The prints are unframed and currently housed in protective clear plastic sleeves.
