A 19th Century Chinese Canton Rose Medallion Famille Rose Porcelain Plate - A Chinese Canton Rose Medallion export porcelain plate, dating from the late 19th century. The plate features a lobed or scalloped gilt rim and is decorated in overglaze Famille Rose enamels. The design consists of four alternating reserves surrounding a central circular medallion. Two panels depict domestic interior scenes with figures in traditional attire, while the other two panels feature birds, butterflies, and floral sprays. The central medallion depicts a bird and flowers on a gilded ground. The reserves are bordered by a dense scrollwork pattern of green foliage, pink flowers, and butterflies on a gold-ground field. The underside is finished in a plain white glaze with no maker or reign marks present.
