The largest item is a double-bladed rattle featuring a blue-painted frame and a turned wooden handle finished in a cream colour. The natural-finish wooden blades are hand-lettered in pink ink with the text POMPEY, the common nickname for Portsmouth Football Club. The medium-sized rattle consists of a single-bladed mechanism within a dark-stained frame featuring a red central component and a dark-stained handle. The smallest rattle is constructed with red-painted side rails, a natural wood centre, and a black-painted handle. This example is distinguished by a black-painted ball finial at the top of the frame and a small red circular mark on the base.
