A Pair of Hand-Carved Japanese Wooden Kashigata Confectionery Moulds - A pair of vintage hand-carved wooden confectionery moulds, traditionally known as kashigata, used for creating intricate sweets. The moulds are crafted from a fine-grained hardwood, featuring deep intaglio-carved chambers with a variety of traditional motifs. The larger mould contains six chambers including a bird, chrysanthemum flower, rooster, acorn, layered leaf, and pomegranate. The smaller mould features five chambers depicting a fan or shell shape, a leaf, plum blossom, pineapple, and a floral cluster with leaves. The base of the larger mould bears a rectangular red ink maker's stamp, although the characters are faded and illegible. Larger mould: 28 cm long x 4.5 cm wide Smaller mould: 23 cm long x 3.8 cm wide.
