A Brass Octagonal Prismatic Compass and Clinometer - A brass surveying compass featuring an octagonal body with a hinged cover and sighting mechanisms. The instrument is constructed with a folding sighting vane and a glass-protected sighting window in the lid. The interior dial is finished in a darkened tone, featuring a degree scale from 0 to 360 and cardinal points, with 'N' and 'W' visible. Centrally mounted is a white and red needle. The internal bed includes an integrated spirit level containing green fluid and a clinometer scale marked with degree increments of 30 and 60. The base of the instrument is fitted with a folding brass thumb loop for handheld stability and a circular brass plate secured with a central screw and washer. Six small screws are visible around the octagonal housing. The brass shows a natural aged patina throughout. Diameter: 6.5 cm.
