A Pair of Earthenware Tube Lined Poppy Motif Ceramic Tiles - A pair of earthenware ceramic tiles featuring vibrant hand-decorated tube-lined floral and landscape scenes. The first tile depicts a pastoral hillside landscape with a brown rabbit nestled amongst a dense foreground of red poppies, leading to a white cottage with a red roof beneath a stylized sunset sky. The second tile presents a botanical study of poppies in various stages of bloom, rendered in a palette of red, yellow, pink, and blue against a graduated green and tan ground. Both tiles utilize the tube-lining technique to create raised, slipped outlines that contain the translucent and opaque glazes. No maker's marks or signatures are visible on the front surfaces. The reverse of the tiles is not visible. Height: 15.2 cm Width: 15.2 cm.
