Brass West London Miniature Sundial Compass with Wooden Case - A contemporary brass sundial compass featuring a circular base with three adjustable screw feet and a hinged triangular gnomon. The top plate is engraved with a Roman numeral hour scale from I-XII and I-VIII, adjacent to a curved, hinged latitude arc scale graduated from 0 to 60. The central compass is housed under glass, featuring a directional rose and a balanced steel needle with a red-painted north point. The rim of the compass is graduated in degrees in quadrants. The outer rim of the top plate bears a cursive engraved inscription reading West London. The instrument is housed in a square, hinged wooden box featuring brass corner brackets, a brass hook latch, and a blank inset circular brass plate on the lid. The interior is lined with black felt.
