Zulu Knobkerrie Club
African, Zulu Tribe Knobkerrie club circa 20th century two color wood carved with a smooth finish. Size 29 1/2" L

Zulu knobkerrie is a short wooden club with a heavy knob at one end. It was traditionally used as a weapon by the Zulu and other Southern African tribes. The word knobkerrie comes from the Dutch word knop (knob) and the Bushman and Hottentot word Kerrie (stick). They saw popular use even into the South African apartheid era with protestors and police.
