1936 Zundwaren Monopoly (German Matches) NOS : 2pks
Zundwaren Monopoly (German Matches) NOS From 1936: 2pks of 10: Weltholzer (World Matches ) unopened package of 10 boxes and Haushaltsware ( Household Product) unopened package of 10 boxes. Each New Old Stock package is paper wrapped and stamped with the year 1936. The black circles seen in photos are on protective plastic overwrap, no modern writing has marred the original packaging. Historic Background Note: The German Zundwaren monopoly (translated Monopoly for Safety Matches) began in 1930 when Germany s Reichstag passed a bill named -Safety Matches Monopoly Law-, which allowed the Deutsche Zundwaren-Monopolgesellschaft (translated German Society for the Safety Matches Monopoly ) exclusive rights to distribute safety matches within the borders of the German Empire. The only brands the Deutsche Zundwaren-Monopolgesellschaft could distribute were Welt -Holzer ( World Matches ) and Haushaltsware ( Household article ). Local German manufacturers obtained licenses to produce preassigned volumes to sell domestically and were not allowed to export these matches or to establish new firms. This Monopoly only ended in 1983. Condition: Vintage Depression Era Ephemera brown paper wrapping has been well preserved on the Haushaltsware package, the thinner blue paper wrapping on the Welt-Holzer has more tears and handling wear. Size: 4 x 3 x 2-inch packages of 10 boxes of matches each.
