An early 20th-century oak longcase clock - An early 20th-century British oak longcase clock. The case is constructed from oak and features a break-arch hood with a moulded cornice, flanked by twin barley-twist columns. The long trunk door is inset with a large octagonal panel decorated with chevron-patterned oak veneers and a beaded border. The clock stands on a plain square base with a shaped plinth. The arched dial, finished in silvered or painted metal, displays black Roman numeral hour markers and is fitted with a pair of ornate, pierced black metal hands. The mechanical, weight-driven movement is accessed via the hood. A winding key is present at the base of the clock. A small white auction label marked 1248 is adhered to the hood glass.
