A large two-tone salt-glazed stoneware dispensing cistern - A large stoneware dispensing cistern or jug featuring a cylindrical body with a rounded shoulder, a short neck, and a flared rim. The vessel is constructed with a thick strap handle and is finished in a two-tone glaze, with a ferruginous brown upper section and a natural buff-coloured lower section. A circular aperture is positioned near the base, currently fitted with a wooden bung. The lower buff-coloured section is marked with an incised capital letter R. A small adhesive label with the handwritten numbers 501 is attached to the handle. Faint, illegible impressions are present near the bung hole.
