Large Japanese Imari Porcelain Charger, Meiji Period - A large circular porcelain charger decorated in the traditional Imari palette of underglaze cobalt blue and overglaze polychrome enamels in iron-red and green, accented with gilding. The central medallion depicts a floral arrangement of peonies and blossoms within a blue-bordered ring. The wide border is composed of alternating radiating panels; one set features the Three Friends of Winter (pine, bamboo, and plum) in a landscape setting with red fences, while the others display stylised floral motifs against a cobalt blue ground with circular reserves. The underside is decorated with three stylised floral sprays in underglaze blue and two concentric rings within the unglazed footrim. Diameter: Approximately 46 cm.
