The second work portrays a young woman in a ruffled cap, holding a folded letter and looking towards the viewer. Both subjects are presented within oval mounts. The prints are housed in matching dark wood reeded frames featuring inner gilt slips. Two small adhesive labels are affixed to the glass of the lower frame, bearing the handwritten character P and the number 501.
