A Collection of Five Dinky Toys Die-cast Model Aircraft - A collection of five vintage die-cast metal model aircraft manufactured by Dinky Toys (Meccano Ltd) in England. This group includes a selection of civilian transports and military fighters from the mid-20th century. The first model is an Avro York Transport Plane finished in grey paint, featuring black registration G-A L O D on the upper wing surfaces and fitted with four red three-bladed plastic propellers. The underside is embossed with Dinky Toys, Made in England by Meccano Ltd. The second is a Handley Page Hermes Airliner with a silver finish, bearing the registration G-A V K W and four red plastic propellers, marked Handley Page Hermes on the underside. The third model is a Lockheed P-38 Lightning finished in olive green with United States Army Air Force star-and-bar roundels and yellow highlights on the tail booms, embossed P. 38 Lightning on the underside. The fourth is a Gloster Meteor jet fighter in silver with Royal Air Force roundels, embossed Meteor. The final model is a Lockheed P-80 Shooting Star jet fighter in silver with US star-and-bar roundels, embossed Shooting Star. All aircraft are constructed of die-cast metal with static landing gear.
