Dinky Toys No 63a Flying Boat Maia - Produced by Meccano Ltd in Liverpool, England, during the late 1930s, this Dinky Toys No. 63a Flying Boat Maia is a die-cast metal model airplane. Originally part of the Short-Mayo Composite aircraft set, the model features four manually rotatable three-blade propellers and two under-wing pontoons. The aircraft is finished in a silver paint scheme with red-painted propellers. The underside of the starboard wing is embossed with the marks DINKY TOYS MADE IN ENGLAND BY MECCANO LTD, and the port wing is marked FLYING BOAT. The model is accompanied by its original two-piece cardboard box, featuring a blue base and a grey lid. The interior base of the box is printed in blue ink with FLYING BOAT MAIA DINKY TOYS No 63a MADE IN ENGLAND BY MECCANO LTD LIVERPOOL and OVER 200 VARIETIES. The top of the lid includes a descriptive paper label explaining the history of the Short-Mayo Composite aircraft. A small white rectangular sticker with the handwritten number 12704 is applied to the bottom left corner of the lid.
