A Salter's No 2 Improved Spring Balance Hanging Scale - A British hanging spring balance scale featuring a circular brass faceplate mounted within a dark metal housing. The unit is constructed with a suspension loop at the top and a heavy-gauge S-shaped hanging hook at the base. The brass face is incised with black-filled characters reading SALTER'S at the top, IMPROVED SPRING BALANCE across the centre, and No 2 below. To the left, the face is marked TO WEIGH 25lb and to the right BY 1/4lb. An impressed circular mark containing a Stafford knot emblem is located to the left of the central black-finished metal pointer.
