Two Sterling Silver Items comprising an Edwardian Trinket Box and a Modern Matchbook Case - A group of two sterling silver items. The first is an Edwardian footed, oval-shaped trinket box manufactured by E. S. Barnsley and Co. The hinged lid features a scalloped silver border. The body is raised on four decorative scrolled feet and the interior is lined with a beige textile. The side of the box is struck with four hallmarks: the maker's mark E.S.B for Edward Samuel Barnsley, the anchor for the Birmingham Assay Office, the lion passant for sterling silver, and the capital date letter P for 1914. The second item is a rectangular matchbook case featuring an engine-turned guilloché wavy pattern within scrolled foliate borders. The front is fitted with a curved thumbpiece set with a dark cabochon stone. The interior contains a vintage partial matchbook for Barnardo's Homes and bears convention hallmarks for L C B Co Ltd, including the scales symbol, the 925 fineness mark, and the lowercase date letter k for circa 2009.
