Bidspirit auction | A Collection of British First

A Collection of British First World War Medals, Imperial Service Medal, and Related Ephemera - This lot comprises several British military and civilian awards. The primary military group is a First World War campaign duo awarded to a member of the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry. It includes a silver British War Medal (1914-1918) and a bronze Victory Medal (1914-1919). Both medals are officially impressed on the edge: 27203 PTE. C. SLEEMAN. D. OF CORN. L.I. Also present is an Imperial Service Medal, Queen Elizabeth II second issue (Dei Gratia), officially edge-impressed to CHARLES ERIC BEER. This medal is housed in its original maroon leatherette fitted case by the Royal Mint. The collection includes a circular Silver War Badge (SWB) featuring the George V cypher and the inscription FOR KING AND EMPIRE SERVICES RENDERED. This is pinned to a fragment of khaki wool serge alongside a square blue enamelled trade union badge for the National Union of Public Employees (NUPE). Completing the group are two silver-coloured medallions in blue card boxes: one featuring the Royal Army Service Corps crest and Garter motto, and another depicting a swimming or diving scene.
