2016 UK The Queen's Beasts Lion of England Two Ounce Silver Five Pound Coin - A UK five pound coin struck in two ounces of 999.9 fine silver, being the first issue in The Queen's Beasts series. The obverse features the fifth definitive portrait of Elizabeth II by Jody Clark, facing right, against a guilloche pattern field. The legend is transcribed as ELIZABETH II · D · G · REG · F · D · 5 POUNDS · with the designer initials JC visible at the base of the neck. The reverse depicts the Lion of England, a crowned heraldic lion rampant supporting a shield of the Royal Arms, against a textured background. The reverse legend is transcribed as LION OF ENGLAND · 2 OZ · FINE SILVER · 999.9 · 2016, with JC initials positioned below the shield. The coin features a reeded edge. It is presented in a clear protective capsule within a black case. The interior lid of the case is lined with white fabric featuring a gold-toned crown emblem and the printed name JUBILEE MINT. The lot includes a Certificate of Authenticity from The Jubilee Mint, signed by Michael J. Byrne, which states the issuer as UK (The Royal Mint) and records the diameter as 38.61mm and the weight as 62.42g.
