Struck in .925 sterling silver with a fine gold-plated outer ring, the coin follows the piedfort specification with double the thickness and weight of standard issues. The obverse features the fifth definitive coinage portrait of Elizabeth II by Jody Clark, with the legend inscribed ELIZABETH II · D · G · REG · F · D · 2 POUNDS. The reverse, designed by Rhys Morgan, displays the official badge of the Royal Air Force with the motto PER ARDUA AD ASTRA, surrounded by the commemorative text THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE ROYAL AIR FORCE 1918 - 2018.
