A Burmese style Embroidered Kalaga Textile Wall Hanging Featuring Elephant Medallions - A Burmese style embroidered Kalaga textile wall hanging. The piece is constructed on a black textile ground, featuring raised embroidery in silvered and copper-toned metallic threads utilizing the shwe chi doe technique. The design incorporates a vertical sequence of five circular medallions, each depicting a caparisoned elephant in profile, separated by stylised geometric and foliate borders. The embroidery is further embellished with small glass beads and numerous sequins. The reverse of the piece is lined with a coarse black fabric backing. A small white rectangular adhesive label is present on the surface of one elephant medallion; however, the characters on this label are not legible as a specific name or maker.
