Bidspirit auction | Two Pieces of European Style
Two Pieces of European Style Glazed Earthenware Utilitarian Pottery - This lot comprises two pieces of glazed earthenware pottery featuring a utilitarian design, including one tall pitcher and one wide-mouthed jar. The pitcher is constructed from a buff-toned terracotta clay body with a tapering neck, a single loop handle attached at the neck and shoulder, and a small pouring lip at the rim. The interior of the neck and the rim are finished with a dark honey-coloured lead glaze, while the exterior remains unglazed. The second piece is a cylindrical jar or crock with two lug-style handles and a thick, rolled rim. The exterior is unglazed terracotta, while the interior features a deep amber-coloured glaze throughout. Both items are hand-thrown with visible turning marks to the interior bases. No manufacturer's marks, stamps, or signatures are visible on either piece.
