A Collection of Rhodium Plated and Enamel Marcasite Figurative Brooches - A collection of costume jewellery brooches featuring various figurative and animal motifs, primarily constructed from silver-tone or gold-tone base metals with rhodium plating. The group includes several examples decorated with cold-painted enamel and set with rose-cut marcasite stones. Notable designs include a flying swallow, a perched cockatoo, a stylised exotic bird, a three-masted sailing ship, a racing car, a dancing trio, and a scene featuring a gondola and flamingo. The birds and sailing ship feature small marcasite stones set into the metalwork. One swallow brooch is presented on a cream fabric insert within a cloud-shaped plastic case, accompanied by a printed label reading REAL MARCASITE RHODIUM PLATED. A cockatoo brooch is similarly boxed with a label reading REAL ENAMEL MARCASITE RHODIUM PLATED. The collection also contains an antiqued silver-tone elephant brooch with a pink fabric accent. All pieces are fitted with standard pin and clasp mechanisms to the reverse.
