Two Large Antique Copper and Brass Domestic Vessels Including A Haystack Pitcher - This lot comprises two antique copper and brass vessels. The first is a large tapered cylindrical fireside bucket or coal scuttle constructed from wrought sheet copper with a rolled rim and decorative raised horizontal bands. The vessel features two cast brass mounts in the form of lion masks, each supporting a swing-ring handle. The second item is a large copper and brass water jug of haystack form. The tapered copper body is decorated with three rows of horizontal reeding. It is fitted with a heavy brass base band, a brass rim with a hinged spout cover, and a double-cabled brass overhead swing handle. A smaller fixed brass tilting handle is attached to the rear base. There are no maker's marks or hallmarks visible on either vessel. A small white rectangular adhesive label reading C137R is affixed to the lower body of the fireside bucket.
